Showing what integrated Bay Area fares could mean for riders

A trip across multiple Bay Area transit agencies can mean separate fares and transfer rules. Seamless Bay Area wanted to show how a proposed integrated fare structure would change the cost of those trips.

“Seamless Bay Area creates a working model of a rational fare structure for the region's transit systems”

BlinkTag built an interactive map and fare calculator that let people explore the proposal through single trips, round trips, and monthly travel. Streetsblog San Francisco covered the tool in 2020.

Our work made a regional policy proposal tangible at the scale of an individual journey. Riders could compare costs, and advocates could explain the proposal with a working demonstration. The calculator modeled a proposed system; it did not implement new fares at the agencies.
