BlinkTag worked with WCCTAC and 511 Contra Costa to create an interactive SMS data collection system for surveying commuters in Contra Costa County. Commuters were asked about their daily commute’s start and end zip codes and then asked via SMS what mode of transportation they used each day.

Data was collected for one month and then analyzed. Commuters who avoided driving alone for most of the month were rewarded.

The survey system was powered by Twilio and the code is open source and available on github.
