A bike route planner recommended by The New York Times

The New York Times linked to 511 CCTA’s Bike Mapper in its 2021 guide for people getting started with cycling. It appeared in the section on deciding where to ride, helping readers move from general advice to planning a route.

BlinkTag built the Bike Mapper using our Bikesy routing technology. Riders could adjust preferences for hills and bike infrastructure, then compare directions and elevation profiles. The goal was to make route choices reflect the rider’s comfort and priorities, rather than distance alone.

The tool used OpenStreetMap data and Bikesy’s routing software for 511 Contra Costa.
