I think color-coding the lines would help quite a bit with navigation and wouldn't be that difficult to implement.

BART should really give up the color coding. BART trains/routes are consistently identified by their terminus stations on platform monitors and station announcements, not by color. Unfamiliar riders often plan their trips by route color, which is conventional with many transit systems that they may be familiar with. These riders are understandably confused when they reach the platform and there is no color reference as to which train they should board to reach their destination. It doesn't help that many platforms have only a single system map (hopefully) inside the paid area for riders to reference. The result: lost and frustrated riders that will probably just rent a car next time they visit San Francisco, that is, after they manage to knock their roller luggage into everyone between them and the station exit.

An alternative would be to totally embrace referencing their trains by color. Any thoughts on this?
