The Client: 511 Contra Costa is a regional transportation advocacy agency serving a large suburban county in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through its website, printed materials, and direct advocacy work with local business, 511CC promotes alternatives to the single-occupancy automobile and supports environmentally-friendly transportation options throughout the area.

The Project: Blinktag Inc. was hired in 2007 by 511CC to bolster their online advocacy work. In cooperation with graphic design firm Adduci Studios , BlinkTag designed and implemented a completely revamped website for the organization, which showcases a cutting-edge graphical interface and navigational features. In addition, BlinkTag helped 511CC install an easy-to-use content management system, which allows their employees to post professional-looking materials and maintain content without the need for costly ongoing interaction with our firm. Over the last four years, BlinkTag has bolstered 511CC’s online advocacy work and grassroots marketing through consistent, innovative and engaging social media work across Twitter, Storify, Facebook, the 511CC blog, and Foursquare. In 2010, BlinkTag launched the 511CC Bike Mapper, an online and mobile site for planning bike trips in Contra Costa County.

Recognition: In October 2011 511CC was recognized by the Mayor of the City of Oakley, CA for the physical and online services it provides to the community. In March 2010 511CC was mentioned alongside the EPA, BAAQMD and PG&E as organizations who efectively use Twitter to spread information and environmental awareness.
